Our class had the opportunity to meet with Curtis and Rachel Thompson to learn about the home-buying process and the role of a realtor. For many of us, it was the first time learning about what actually goes into purchasing a home—a topic that often isn’t covered in school.

Curtis walked us through the steps involved in buying a house, including the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive agreements with realtors, what to look for in a home, and how to decide which features are worth changing. We got to tour one of his listed properties and discuss aspects we liked or would want to update, which made the experience hands-on and practical.

He also gave helpful advice for any business owner, especially as we closed in on our trade show. One standout quote was, "Don’t get offended when people don’t use your business—even if they know you.” This reminder helped us understand the importance of staying professional and focused, even when friends or acquaintances don’t become customers.

Curtis also explained what it takes to become a realtor and how he works to be flexible and supportive for his clients. Overall, the visit was eye-opening and taught us a lot about both real estate and the mindset needed for success in business.

Once again, thank you to Curtis and Rachel Thompson for your continued support of CEO!
